Bush and Merkel at G8: Did He Give Her A Neck Rub Again?

From the looks of it, George Bush just can't keep his hands off
Chancellor Angela Merkel's neck

Bush, German leader meet on G-8 challenges

By TOM RAUM, Associated Press Writer 2 hours, 10 minutes ago

TOYAKO, Japan - President Bush and German Chancellor Angela Merkel pledged Tuesday to keep working together on common problems, but progress appeared slow on reaching a consensus on climate change as the Group of Eight major economies tackled that and other knotty global issues.

Bush was more terse after the meeting, not mentioning global warming but telling reporters: "We talked about a lot of common problems, and a lot of common opportunities. We talked about the G-8. We talked about the need to work — continue to work together on Iran."

Common this common that. George didn't want to talk about anything, it seems, because he has a "legacy" to protect.

And since they know Bush is on his way out (way, way out, we hope) most of the talks didn't yield much of anything - except just a tiny bit of concern from Russia about Bush wanting to build missile defense systems everywhere except the moon and Mars. And all those defense systems would be aimed at Iran...and possibly Russia.

Here was a chance to allay those fears, but instead of taking advantage of the G8 Summit, George "Diplomatic Dimwit" Bush struck again. His now famous obstinacy* and inane rhetoric only made Summit attendees wish they were at the next summit. They all want to get over the Bush administration and deal with someone else.

Anyone else.
